ASPCA and WWF

Darn you, ASPCA and WWF. There you go again, tugging at my heartstrings. Not only do I tear up when watching Noah Wyle's endorsement of saving the polar bears for WWF and Sarah Maclachlan's commercial for ASPCA, but now there's a new commercial for ASPCA. I want to turn away, because I can't bear the sight of sad and hurt animals, but I can't. AARGH.

You sure do the trick with these advertisements, because I instantly have a yearning to become Tippi Hedren, while also wanting to punish every inhumane person out there who treats pets as if they don't have feelings or experience pain. I just can't even imagine what it's like for Animal Cops or vets who witness this cruelty in person. I would absolutely lose it.

Thanks, ASPCA and WWF for putting a "furry face forward" to shed light on your wonderful causes. You have my heart.

Earth Hour 2009

This Saturday, March 28th, is the first worldwide Earth Hour "election." At 8:30 p.m. local time, wherever you live on planet Earth, switch your lights off for one hour.

Switching off your lights is a vote for Earth, or leaving them on is a vote for global warming. The World Wildlife Foundation is urging the world to VOTE EARTH and reach a target of 1 billion homes and businesses who switch off their lights for one hour. The data will be presented to world leaders at the 2009 Global Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen.

2,848 cities, towns, and municipalities in 84 countries have committed to participating in Earth Hour 2009. Please be one of the households to to Vote! Earth.
